Tips for building your shed in Penrith

Once you take delivery of your garden shed Penrith the first thing you should do is check that all the parts are safely inside and that nothing has been damaged. If anything is wrong call your shed supplier as soon as possible if – in the unlikely event there are any parts missing or damaged. You do not want to get halfway through the installation and discover something is wrong. If you spot any issues straight away they are easier to fix.

Take the time to read ALL the assembly instructions before you start building and refer to them throughout the process. Making a mistake can be not only time-consuming, it can also be expensive. Shed kits can be a lot harder than a flatpack cupboard or table – and – a lot bigger.

Stay safe, always wear boots, goggles and gloves and if working outside apply sunblock regularly. Most shed building injuries happen when people forget those basic precautions.

Don’t try and put your shed together on a windy or wet day, wait for a cool and still weekend to build your shed in comfort and safety.

Assemble the first frame and then use that as a template for the other frames, you can assemble them on top of each other to ensure they are identical.

Take your time, measure and check your alignment BEFORE fixing screws or bolts or fittings. You can’t undo holes made in your garden shed Penrith, your mistakes will show, and you’ll end up with a poor finish.

Begin with the framework, attach the footings or brackets embedded in your slab and then erect one wall at a time, bracing as required and follow your installation guide regularly, especially when it comes to bolt tensions, stiffeners and bracers.

For a small shed this is a relatively easy job for two people if you have some experience in do it yourself projects, or you have a trade background. If you are building a bigger workshop or garage it might be better to hire a person or persons who know what they are doing.

  • I just want to advise you of the terrific service one of your shed builders provided to us when last week he built the shed we ordered through your Penrith office. Dave and his young helper provided first class workmanship, he was very polite, and the clean up was a pleasure compared to most other tradesmen. We are soon going to order a further shed via Penrith and I have no hesitation in recommending your products. Thank you Dave, and thank you to Col Western Sheds.
