Father’s Day project – install a garden shed!

Dads don’t get nearly as much hype as mums do, especially around the holidays. Fortunately, dads are way easier to shop for. No, this doesn’t mean you should resort to ties, socks, and alcohol. Your dad probably won’t mind any of those gifts butgive him something with a little meat on it – and not just the barbie. We’re told the best way to bond with a woman is talk to her, and the best way to bond with a man is to do an activity together.

In this sense, a DIY project with your dad (whether you’re a daughter, a son, or somewhere between) can be a good way to feel closer. Dad will love it because spending time with his kids usually costs (beer) money, so it’ll be nice if you take over the bill for once. Plus a home improvement activity raises the cash value of dad’s home. Bonus! You want to pick something simple, so that even if dad isn’t a trained manual labourer, he can handle it.

Work like a dad

A garden shed is a good choice, and Col Western Shed has the best kind (because they’re affordable and easy to assemble). You can put a small garden shed in Wollongong or anywhere else, and it will only take a few hours, possibly less. Our sheds come as a flat pack with easy-to-follow instructions, and we even have a tutorial video on our site. All youneed is a power drill with screw top bits. You’ll also need to silicone-seal the inner base.

Our shed designs are quite versatile. You can get a flat roof, gabled roof, or skillion roof. We offer multiple sizes, additional gutters, sliding or hinged doors, and even skylights. Sit with dad and see what type of roof he’d like. The extras don’t make it any harder to assemble, though they do affect the pricing. You can choose from our multiple colour options as well. The colour doesn’t fade, and the vinyl walls are easily maintained with a high pressure hose.

Beer and drills

The shed itself is made of pre-fab panels that are held together with screws and hinges. The shed is lightweight but sturdy, and depending on your needs, it can have open-air sections or mesh for animal enclosures. We can also provide shelving if you intend to use your shed for storage, crafting, or studio work. It’s fairly easy to install electric outlets, running water, or internet access to your shed, enhancing its utility. (We don’t offer these services though.)

If you shop with us right now, you can get a half-off discount on sliding doors and roofing panels. We can also offer construction tips for your shed project, but you really don’t need them – it’s remarkably easy to assemble and install our garden sheds. Mum might want to get in on the action as well once she sees how quick and fun it is. Just be sure there’s a good supply of chilled drinks and meaty hot snacks – with or without chilli – and that you work the drill before you get too tipsy.

  • I just want to advise you of the terrific service one of your shed builders provided to us when last week he built the shed we ordered through your Penrith office. Dave and his young helper provided first class workmanship, he was very polite, and the clean up was a pleasure compared to most other tradesmen. We are soon going to order a further shed via Penrith and I have no hesitation in recommending your products. Thank you Dave, and thank you to Col Western Sheds.
