Have you noticed recently that heaps of carport awnings are cropping up around your area? Well, you wouldn’t be the only one. While there are still plenty or actual garages around we are seeing a lot more carport awnings going up, and for good reason, too.
If you’re someone who has an actual garage in your home, then congrats – it sure does make life a heck of alot easier! The problem with actual garages is that they tend to take up a lot of room. Particularly within inner city and suburban areas in Australia we are seeing block sizes decreasing and subdivision after subdivision. What this means for us is less space overall.
Less space means that the first thing to go is generally the garage. Because our houses don’t usually fit flush with the footpath, it means we’ve still got a little bit of room between the footpath and the house – the perfect place to put a carport awning and not detract from the front of the house.

They’re a heck of a lot cheaper to build than a garage, too! The cost of purchasing and installing a carport awning is a darn sight cheaper than building yourself a full garage to put your car in.
We like to protect our cars from the weather. Although we don’t get snow, we do get some rain, and sometimes even those crazy hail storms where we see damaged cars (and other things!) left, right and centre. If your car was under a carport awning during one of these freak storms you would be counting your lucky stars.
It’s not just the bad weather that has an adverse effect on cars, either. UV rays can be particularly damaging to a car’s paint job and exterior and interior fittings over time. You will see those faded cars out on the street, and even curling dashboards on some unfortunate older cars. Just like UV can damage our skin, it can damage our cars too – we wouldn’t go out for 10 hours without sunscreen, so think about the damage it does to our cars!
Material car covers are fiddly, and let’s face it, who can be bothered using them all the time. Of course, the solution to all this nonsense is a carport awning.
