The humble garden shed is something that no backyard should go without. The question when getting your shed is whether you’d like it to fit in perfectly with the surrounding garden, or whether you’d like it to be a standout feature in your yard.
Here today, we’ve got some tips on how to landscape around your shed to make it an attractive part of your garden setup – whatever that setup may be.
Garden beds
Many people choose to add cute garden beds around the outer of their sheds to make it look sort of like a little cottage house. You can either put in some glorious blooming flowers or plant useful herbs or vegetables for use around the home and kitchen. Garden beds can either be built up around the shed, or just an area of ground uncovered next to the shed.

Creeping vines
Creeping vines are a good way to make your shed look more in step with nature. Training vines up a garden shed can take some time, but it’s worth it when you see wonderful, green foliage surrounding your shed. Be careful with vines, as if they become too thick and weighty, then can start to weigh down the structure of the shed itself. Prune often for the best results.
A matching fence
Garden Sheds are available in the Colourbond colours, much like garden fences. Choose a shed in the same shade as your fence if you’d like it to “fade into the background”, or a complementary colour if you’d simply like it to match in well with its surrounds.

Lattice walls
If you’d like your shed to be completely hidden from view, which some people do, then a good way to achieve this is by adding vertical freestanding lattice walls around the visible perimeter of the shed. Disappearing around the lattice will bring you to the entrance of the shed. For added effect, these can be painted, or vines can be trained to grow on them for a more natural look.
A brightly coloured shed
If you really love your shed and want it to be one of the main attractions in your yard, then one of the best ways to achieve this is with a bright, smart paint job. You’ll often see sheds in brilliant reds or green, where they truly are a centrepiece of a backyard.
